Our History

2023

Hope Haven Area Development Center joined the organization through a merger in November 2023. This merger resulted in the addition of 352 individuals-served and 225 employees. Hope Haven began providing services in 1950 when they opened a school in Burlington for children with disabilities.

2019

On October 27, 2019, Imagine assumed the operations of Genesis Development Center, a large provider operating primarily in central and western Iowa. This transaction came as a result of a consultative relationship established with Genesis earlier that year and represented a significant expansion of Imagine’s statewide impact.

2017

On October 1, 2017, after months of discussion and ongoing collaboration between the two agencies, G & G merged into Imagine the Possibilities. With the new addition of a strong and well operated agency, Imagine the Possibilities now served over 700 individuals and employed over 550 people.

2016

In July 2016, after months of planning and research, three organizations from across the state came together to create Imagine the Possibilities, Inc. 2015

In 2015, DAC purchased the campus and homes owned by Community Care, Inc. The buildings were remodeled and in August 2015, DAC’s Administrative Offices were moved from Maquoketa to DeWitt, reflecting a more centralized location.

2014

In 2014, DAC’s Residential & Vocational Services expanded into Clinton County and also began offering services to Jones County and Scott County areas. Specifically, DAC was able to assume the provision of services to the individuals formerly served by Community Care, Inc. based out of De Witt.

2012

In 2012, DAC transitioned out of the Julien Care Facility in Dubuque and into the Andrew Jackson Care Facility in rural Bellevue, Iowa. Our Andrew Jackson Care Facility is a 16-bed RCF/PMI. DAC purchased three more homes in Dubuque for Home and Community Based Services (HCBS).

2010

DAC continues to grow and expand their Home & Community Based Services with the purchase of a third home in Dubuque, Iowa. 2009

DAC purchased Briarwood Nursing Home in Maquoketa and converted it to a 4-bed HCBS site. In July 2009, DAC expanded their Home & Community Based Services by adding 2 homes in the Dubuque area.

2008

In 2008, DAC purchased a second home in Bellevue, Iowa. Also, an addition was made to DAC’s Administrative Building in Maquoketa to include 5 additional offices and a conference/training room.
