Manifest Destiny (Midwest Opportunities, Inc.) was incorporated as a non-profit organization and the planning and construction of five ICF/ID homes began.

A new building was completed next to our Recycling Center and DAC moved its Administrative and Vocational Services into that site.

G & G Living Centers, Inc. was founded in 1992 by a group of community leaders from Guttenberg and Garnavillo, for the purpose of bringing back to northeast Iowa the developmentally disabled children of families in the area. In 1989, DAC was able to construct a 12-bed Intermediate Care Facility for the Intellectually Disabled (ICF/ID), known as Prairie House, which opened its doors in January of 1990.

A home was purchased in Bellevue, Iowa and was operated as a licensed Residential Care Facility for the Intellectually Disabled (RCF/ID). Officially changed name to DAC, Inc. in March 1986. The agency at that time provided services to 25 individuals. At the present time, DAC serves approximately 450 individuals in several different programs and employs around 420 dedicated staff.

Our diligent volunteer board in Oskaloosa realized their dream when a fifteen bed group home licensed as a RCF/MR was opened on South 11th Street that would provide residential services to adults with disabilities.

Established under the name Mahaska Diamond Shelter, in October 1977, Imagine the Possibilities is a private, not-for-profit corporation. For nearly four years, our volunteer board conducted research and fund drives with the goal that some day a facility would exist in Oskaloosa that would provide residential services to adults with disabilities.
