Recycling Center
Recycling Center & Community Services
Imagine The Possibilities offers vocational training in a supervised environment to individuals with disabilities. The training provides emphasis on developing employable work skills and habits to help introduce them into the community for competitive employment. Individuals earn wages while performing work from local businesses, such as cleaning, kitchen, light assembly, packaging and/or recycling.
The Recycling Center, which has been in operation since June 1990, continuously strives to increase efficiency and popularity of recycling in Jackson County. The Agency worked in conjunction with the Jackson County Sanitary Disposal Agency to create a county-wide recycling program, which was implemented in 1991. The recycling program has been very successful in reducing county waste, creating more jobs while maintaining a cleaner environment.
Since 2014 the Agency has contracted with the Jackson County Board of Supervisors to haul rural recycling bins from Bellevue, Preston, Iron Hill and Otter Creek. The Bellevue bin is typically emptied out on Mondays and Fridays. Otter Creek is also emptied on Mondays with Iron Hill being emptied on Wednesdays. The Preston bin is on a 4-day rotation with bins being emptied on Wednesday one week and Monday and Friday the following week. This schedule then repeats throughout the year. These containers are designed for rural customers in Jackson County. If you have any questions or concerns about the rural bins, please contact our office.
The Recycling Center is located at 1710 East Maple Street in Maquoketa, Iowa just off the industrial bypass east of town.
The Outdoor Recycling Drop-Off is available to residents of Jackson County 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
