Our History

2006

In June 2006, DAC, Inc. took over management of the Julien Care Facility in Dubuque, Iowa.

2005

In 2005, DAC began to provide Day Habilitation Services at its Vocational Center. This service offers individuals opportunities to participate in community activities, as well as learning skills such as cooking, safety, etc. DAC also began offering Representative Payee Services in 2005.

2001

In August 2001, Mahaska Diamond Shelter in Oskaloosa legally changed its name to Imagine the Possibilities, Inc. The leadership team believed this new name reflected its passion to look beyond disability and place the focus squarely on all that is possible.

1998

G & G was fully accredited by The Council on Quality and Leadership (CQL) in 1998. 1997

Manifest Destiny changed its name to Midwest Opportunities, Inc. to better reflect the program and its mission of Individual Achievement.  

1996

G & G Living Centers, Inc. expanded its services in 1996 to include Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) with locations in Guttenberg, Garnavillo, and Edgewood. 1995

In May of 1995, DAC opened a duplex (dedicated to the memory of Fr. Bill McLaughlin) in Maquoketa, Iowa. Also in 1995, Mahaska Diamond Shelter in Oskaloosa converted its two 5-bed RCF/ID locations to HCBS sites.

1994

In Oskaloosa, the 15-bed RCF/ID was converted to an 8-bed ICF/ID and all CSALA services were converted to the HCBS program.

1993

In Maquoketa, a home was donated by Oscar & Camilla Skott. One of the individuals served by DAC at the time moved into the home in March of 1993. G & G”s first ICF/ID home opened its doors on October 10, 1993.

1992

G & G Living Centers, Inc. was founded in 1992 by a group of community leaders from Guttenberg and Garnavillo for the purpose of bringing back to northeast Iowa the developmentally disabled children of families in the area.
